Our dear patron Magdalena Kožená has prepared a truly luxurious gift for this year’s festival: together with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Sir Simon Rattle, they have recorded a new CD with songs by Bohuslav Martinů, Antonín Dvořák, Hans Krása and Gideon Klein on the Pentatone label.

The recording goes out into the world and onto streaming platforms on 7 June, but those who can’t wait can try a snippet of Martinů’s ‘Blue Hours’ here. Then come hear Magdalena “live” at Beseda House on July 10, when she will close this year’s edition of our festival with a song recital accompanied by the excellent Kirill Gerstein on piano.
